Oracle Commits 40 Billion to Nvidia Chips for OpenAI’s Data Center

Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) has announced plans to acquire approximately 400,000 units of Nvidia’s top-performing GB200 chips, resulting in an investment totaling $40 billion. These chips will operationalize OpenAI’s new data center situated in Abilene, Texas, part of the U.S. Stargate Project. This facility, which will launch by mid-2026, is set to be leased to OpenAI under a 15-year agreement, allowing the AI leader to reduce its dependency on Microsoft’s cloud services.

Strategic Investment and Future Cash Flow

This $40 billion allocation ranks as one of the largest individual chip commitments ever made in the AI infrastructure sector. To predict how Oracle’s cash flow might cope with this investment, analysts can model various projection scenarios using the Advanced DCF API. This reveals the future income from the data center against the initial chip investment.

Financing and Credit Profile Considerations

JPMorgan has facilitated about $9.6 billion in debt via two separate loans. Additionally, Crusoe and Blue Owl Capital have contributed around $5 billion in equity. Oracle’s capacity to manage this additional debt hinges on its financial health and cash flow ratios. Investors interested in Oracle’s creditworthiness can track real-time changes in its credit ratings and debt metrics using the Company Rating API.
