Amazon Shoppers Demonstrate Resilience Amid Inflation, Says Jefferies

Despite rising concerns regarding inflation and tariff impacts, a recent Jefferies survey reveals that Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) shoppers are maintaining their spending habits. The survey of nearly 700 consumers indicates consistent purchasing behavior, with 62% of participants spending the same or more over the past three months.

Spending Behavior in Focus

Although 80% of respondents expressed worries about potential price increases driven by tariffs, only a negligible 3% reported stopping their purchases entirely on Amazon. Furthermore:

  • 31% indicated they are spending less.
  • 34% noted a reduction in shopping frequency.

Jefferies analysts pointed out that 45% of respondents would consider reducing their spending on Amazon should inflation worsen.

Amazon Prime’s Loyalty Factor

The survey also noted Amazon’s enduring strength through its Prime membership:

  • 73% of respondents are Prime members.
  • 57% of Prime members plan to keep their memberships.

Conclusion: Amazon’s Resilient Market Position

The results of this survey highlight Amazon’s robust position in weathering inflation pressures due to strong platform loyalty and superior logistics.
