Ethereum’s EIP-7702 Faces Serious Threat from Phishing Scams

Since the activation of the Pectra upgrade on May 7, many Ethereum users have rushed to enable EIP-7702 smart accounts. Unfortunately, many remain unaware of the serious phishing risks associated with this upgrade. This enhancement allows Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs) to temporarily function as smart contract wallets, controlling funds through delegated messaging. As potential scams exploit this new feature, users must exercise caution and educate themselves on safeguarding their assets. Awareness is key in navigating these treacherous waters, especially as the Ethereum network expands its capabilities. Understanding the risks of phishing will empower users, helping them make secure transactions. Stay informed and protect your investments.
